Designing Focus Sessions That Actually Stick
Why session length, ramp-up and silence matter more than the playlist you choose.
Most people start a focus session by picking music. The bigger lever is structure: a short ramp-up, a protected block, and a deliberate close.
Harmonic sessions open with a 90-second ramp that gradually introduces the beat, so your attention settles instead of snapping into place. The middle block holds a steady frequency with minimal melodic movement.
The close matters too. A two-minute fade signals the end of the block and makes it far easier to take a real break rather than sliding into distraction.
Repeat the same shape a few days in a row and the session itself becomes the cue — you start focusing before the first note finishes.
